Classes
YogaNutz Parent & Preschool Yoga
At this age, pre-schoolers are still in touch with the natural yogi’s within them. In our YogaNutz class we use natural toddler movements, and put them together with fun playful games, movement, stories and song to inspire parents & their children into playing together in an interactive, imaginative and fun way.
YogaNutz 2-7yrs Yoga
A children’s imagination paradise that will stimulate their creative mind. The yoga postures will help them to have a healthier body, better focus and improved concentration. Our relaxation techniques teach children how to be calm in difficult situations.
Children join us as we enter magical worlds… the jungle… the seaside… space… fairy tales… Meeting many different animals, creatures, familiar storybook characters, talking trees and much more using yoga movement alongside stories/adventures.
Our classes are interactive and children are encouraged to share ideas. We have a high emphasis on raising self-esteem and confidence levels, we nurture children’s imagination to enable them to be more creative and through regular Yoga classes children will inevitably achieve higher at school and beyond.
YogaNutz 8-11yrs Yoga
In this class children practice yoga through sequencing, fun games, creativity through themed sessions. Through the practice of yoga children are able to maintain their flexibility, develop strength, sleep better, improve their levels of concentration and perform to their full potential at home and in school.
The combination of breathing, posture work and relaxation/visualisation techniques help children to gain in self-confidence and come to terms with many of their physical and mental developmental changes.
We work with Year 6 children in preparation for their SATS tests to help them to release the negative emotions such as worry and fear. This enables them to face the tests in a calm, confidence manner.
Year 6 SATS Yoga Program
this program includes the following:
Affirmations
Short simple statements that when repeated - can effectively direct those thoughts towards a particular purpose. When an affirmation is said, the words used are “I am”. Encouraging the mind to picture a positive expectation. Through the use of an affirmation the mind will eventually record over negative thoughts and replace them with new positive thoughts.
Breathing techniques
Increases lung capacity, increases the level of oxygen in the blood, which stimulates the brain increasing memory. Breathing techniques stimulate children when they feel tired or lethargic, Focus them when they feel scatter-brained or overwhelmed, and relax them when they are feeling anxious or tense
Postures
Release tension, stretch the body, improve posture, flexibility and vitality. Develop mental awareness and memory, and improve inner well being.
Relaxation & visualisation
A time to quite the body and still the mind, helps children to recognise the difference between tension and relaxation. Strengthens a child’s power of concentration & imagination, calming & cantering, soothes emotions, boosts immune system, stimulates right brain activity – creativity. Better problem solving abilities, and higher achievement
Gem stones
When nervous, the breath will become fast and shallow, resulting in the inability to concentrate. In this program we use the crystals as a focal point to symbolise inner power and confidence, so they feel more inner strength & positivity towards their tests.
Mandalas
A symmetrical pattern usually used in meditation
Used as a focal point during the test to help clear the mind, reduce stress, worry and is particularly good to use as a focal point when doing Innumeracy and Science Tests (stimulates left brain).
The colours children choose to colour their mandalas are helping them immensely, they are subconsciously healing themselves through the use of colour.
YogaNutz Teen Yoga, & Yoga for Exams
As a teenager, the body is undertaking many physical and emotional changes as it grows towards adulthood. Yoga is about creating balance within the body and teenagers often show up imbalances with rebellion and mood swings. Through regular yoga practice teens can help maintain balance in the body and become more aware of their mind and body.
In a YogaNutz class, we teach our body and mind to work together. Through regular practice, teens will be able look and find who they really are deep inside, something that is difficult for a teenager as they tend to be very focused on their outward selves. Yoga will help to increase awareness and the ability to look within. The result is that a teenager will feel more peaceful, self-confident and happy and have a more positive outlook to life.
Yoga is also particularly helpful to calm exam pressures, and through posture work and relaxation techniques we help teens work towards facing life’s challenges such as exams with confidence channeled in a positive way.
